Power to Decide Statement on Senate Appropriations Committee FY 2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Bill
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — In a bipartisan vote of 26-3 yesterday, the Senate Appropriations Committee passed its version of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (LHHS) Appropriations bill. The bill maintains existing funding levels for critical reproductive health care programs, including the Title X Family Planning Program and the evidence-based Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Program. Unfortunately, the bill also continues harmful restrictions on abortion, including the Hyde Amendment.
In response, Power to Decide CEO and practicing OB-GYN Dr. Raegan McDonald-Mosley, released the following statement:
“As an organization dedicated to improving reproductive well-being for all—especially for those who face the biggest barriers—we thank the Senate Appropriations Committee for continuing to support the Title X Family Planning Program and Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (TPP), which provide critical investments and support to communities across the country. From access to contraception to cancer screenings, Title X will continue to provide family planning services to those already struggling to access care. The TPP program will continue to provide evidence-based programs and information to young people across the country. Supporting and continuing these programs is essential for the millions of people who rely on them.
“We are glad that this Committee voted to continue funding for these programs. However, these are the very same programs that are under attack by the current Administration–even as they struggle to meet growing needs. It’s disappointing that stagnant funding and harmful riders, such as the Hyde Amendment, are better than the total decimation that the current Administration seeks. These important programs are not receiving the funds they need to truly meet the moment we’re in or the challenges we will face ahead.
"We thank Senate champions for their work and call on House leadership and the White House to honor the bipartisan support reflected in this bill.
“Power to Decide will continue to do all we can to support people seeking care. Our Bedsider.org and AbortionFinder.org resources are here because everyone deserves access to the information and care they need.”
